Purpose Statement Of Milaca EFC
Values Statement
Five-Years Church Vision/Plan
The
Purpose of Milaca Evangelical Free Church is: to make mature
disciples of Jesus Christ to the praise of God's glory.
Definition of a
Disciple: We define a disciple as a true believer, chosen by God,
growing and abiding in Christ; who glorifies the Father by bearing
fruit through love, prayer, the word and obedience, resulting in great
joy and greater love for one another. (John 15:1-21)
Church Motto:
Growing Disciples for God's Glory.
MILACA
EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH
VALUES STATEMENT
We value truth over tradition,
function over form.
We value the Scripture as our final authority.
·
Biblical truth over custom.
·
Biblical accountability which must include church
discipline.
·
good doctrine
·
speaking the truth in love
We value prayer, participatory worship, and authenticity.
We value unity, but not as an excuse for disobedience or
faithlessness.
We value excellence in Biblical teaching/training as well as in
all ministries.
We value church involvement, but not
as defined by the number of committees to which a person belongs.
We value change, not for change sake, but as it brings us
closer to meeting our divinely given objectives.
We value facilities and equipment only as they perpetuate the
purpose of achieving our mission.
We value ongoing evaluation of our ministries in relation to
our mission.
We value ministry
over administration.
We value streamlining administration to maximize ministry.
·
using intentional strategy in the structuring of
ministry, efficiently using time, money, and resources.
·
reacting to God-given opportunities for ministry.
We value balancing ministry.
·
letting the body of Christ have maximum freedom to
function within their area of ministry.
·
allowing most tactical decisions to be made on the
grass-roots level where ministry is being done, over micro-managing
everything through multiple boards and committees.
We value meaningful discipleship and leadership development.
·
a progressive disciplemaking approach modeled on the
phases of Christ's discipling of the twelve.
·
a small group approach to disciplemaking.
·
Biblical leadership over maintenance.
We value people
over programs.
We value warm, loving fellowship, as essential to the Christian
life as proper doctrine.
·
fellowship in celebration, congregation, and cell
groups.
·
the need for both open and closed types of fellowship
groups within the church.
·
increasing the number of face to face groups within our
church.
We value assimilating new members as key to church health.
We value service gifts as much as leadership gifts.
We value growth
over maintenance.
We value the incorporation of evangelism into our church's
ministry structure.
·
going and winning the lost.
·
off-campus ministry as well as on-campus ministry.
We value outreach to our Jerusalem as much as to the uttermost
parts of the earth.
We value unleashing the whole body of Christ, not just the paid
ministers.
We value budgeting for growth.
Five-Year
Vision For Milaca Evangelical Free Church
From
the Church Leadership
Preamble: Believing that God has called godly men to lead the church,
(Acts 20, 1Timothy 3, Titus 1) and that, pursuant to this call, they
should do the work of shepherds (1Peter 5), which involves among other
things leading the flock (Ps. 23:3) we, who are called as leaders to
this church set forth the following vision statement concerning the
future. We do this fully recognizing that the collective body of
believers, the congregation, is the final authority under Christ.
We
also submit this plan recognizing that the best laid plans of mice and
men are oft put asunder, and so we do so prayerfully, and with the
caveat from James 4:15 "If the Lord wills".
Having
said this, we feel that by setting forth this vision, we will aid our
church in working collectively to the objectives we have mutually
agreed upon. In so doing
we have sought to answer the question, "Where would our church be in
five years if we were listening to the Lord and boldly obeying his
lead?" In light of this
plan, we want to motivate the church to see its utter dependency on
Christ and call it to earnest prayer.
After
much prayer and discussion we have come to the following conclusions.
Under the main points concerning the indicators of a healthy
